Madison, NJ (April 24) – The FDU-Florham women's tennis team fell to King's College (Pa.) by a 7-2 final this afternoon on the FDU Tennis Courts in MAC Freedom action.
Prior to the match, the Devils celebrated their seniors
Nicole DelRosso (Summit, NJ),
Marina Lemin (Caldwell, NJ) and
Erin Weller (Pitman, NJ).
King's improved to 2-11 overall and 2-3 in MAC Freedom play, while FDU fell to 6-5 and 2-3 in league matches.
DelRosso and Weller were 8-1 winners at No. 1 doubles and then DelRosso individually earned the 100th win of her career with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles. King's won the matches at No. 3 singles and No. 5 singles in straight sets, but FDU fought hard at both No. 2 and No. 4 singles as the Devils pushed both into a third set.
Weller fell in a tiebreaking third set at No. 4, 6-4, 4-6, 12-10, while
Kayla Dello Iacono (Moodus, Conn.) had to retire from the match but forced a third set after her and Ashley Kenia split the first two sets by 6-4 scores.
FDU will host Wilkes University on Tuesday, April 26 at 3:00 pm in MAC Freedom action.
