Glenside, Pa. (April 20) – Powered by seven goals from sophomore
Katie Walsh (Marlton, NJ), the FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team defeated Arcadia University, 18-7, in MAC Freedom action tonight on the road.
FDU is now 11-2 on the season and remained undefeated in MAC Freedom play at 5-0, while Arcadia dipped to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in the league.
Walsh, in addition to her seven goals, tallied one assist, three ground balls, caused two turnovers and posted seven draw controls.
Kylee Garcia (Branchburg, NJ) chipped in with five goals and one assist, while
Emma Ciquera (Putnam County, Conn.) and
Lizzy Escudero (Bridgewater, NJ) both registered two goals apiece.
FDU raced out to a 4-0 edge just 3:48 into the game on goals by Escudero, Walsh, Garcia and
Jenna Ranney (Forest Hill, Md.). Arcadia, however, answered with a 4-1 run of its own to cut its deficit to just one at 5-4 with just 35 second to play in the first.
Both teams traded goals keeping the game a one goal game until there was 9:27 left in the second. From that point on, FDU tallied ten straight goals and outscored Arcadia 5-0 in the second half for the 18-7 victory.
As a team, FDU outshot Arcadia, 42-19, won 21-of-29 draw controls and went 16-of-18 on clearing attempts. The Knights held a slim 24-22 margin in ground balls.
In net,
Maddy Apap (Montgomery, NY) got the start and earned her third win of the season.
Jamie Kubach (Philadelphia, Pa.) played the final 45 minutes of action and made eight stops between the pipes for the Devils.
FDU will travel to Misericordia University on Saturday, April 23 at 1:00 pm for another MAC Freedom tilt.
