Throggs Neck, NY (April 20) – The FDU-Florham baseball team dropped a 13-4 decision on the road at SUNY Maritime this evening in non-conference action. The teams split the season series as FDU won the opener on March 22 by a 5-3 final.
FDU moved to 17-14 on the season, while Maritime improved to 19-8 on the year.
The Devils were led offensively by
Matt Nodoro (Morristown, NJ) who went 3-for-5, with a run and two RBI from the leadoff position as well as
Tyler McCulloch (Berkeley Heights, NJ), who went 1-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Both Nodoro and McCulloch launched home runs in the effort tonight.
After Nodoro led off the game with a double, McCulloch struck for a two run homer to right center for an early edge. Maritime answered with a solo homer of its own to kick off its first inning before Nodoro doubled home
Tyrus Chippendale (Middlesex, NJ) for a 3-1 edge through two.
Maritime scored five in the third and six in the sixth and held the Devils to just one run over the final six innings of the game for the 13-4 win. The Mariners offensive attached was highlighted by a three run triple in the third and a two run home run in the sixth.
Daniel Sedutto (Farmingdale, NJ) took the loss out of the pen for FDU, while Hayden Strycharz earned the win for the hosts.
FDU will travel to #6/#9 Arcadia University on Friday afternoon to open a three game MAC Freedom series with the Knights beginning at 3:30 pm.
