Garcia Tallies 100th Career Goal in 21-11 Setback to No. 5 Ithaca

Madison, NJ (March 5) – FDU-Florham women's lacrosse junior Kylee Garcia (Branchburg, NJ) registered her 100th career goal this afternoon in a 21-11 non-conference setback to No. 5 nationally-ranked Ithaca College on Robert T. Shields Field.

Garcia tallied five of FDU-Florham's (2-1) 11 goals this afternoon to go along with two ground balls and a trio of caused turnovers. Katie Walsh (Marlton, NJ) added two goals, two ground balls and seven draw controls in the effort, while Lizzy Escudero (Bridgewater, NJ) tallied two goals and an assist for the Devils.

Ithaca (2-0) was paced by Maizy Veitch, who registered six goals and two assists for eight points, while Megan Motkowski and Caroline Wise both tallied four goals apiece. Wise also added 13 draw controls and two ground balls to her stat line today for the Bombers.

The visitors scored five of the first six goals of the game and led 5-2 after one quarter of action. Brynn Levins (Haddon Township, NJ) potted a goal on the man-advantage early in the second quarter before Ithaca scored eight consecutive goals for a 14-3 lead.

Midway through the third quarter, FDU scored four consecutive goals, three by Garcia and one by Walsh. Escudero fed the ball to Garcia to cap the 4-0 run (14-7) with a goal on the man advantage. The seven goal differential was the closest the Devils would get today as Ithaca went on to win 21-11.

In net, FDU keeper Jamie Kubach (Philadelphia, Pa.) made 11 stops, while Lexi Held and Kayla Howley split time in net for the Bombers and combined for eight saves.

Next Saturday, March 12, FDU will visit Moravian University at 1:00 pm for a non-conference clash on John Makuvek Field.
