Every starter in the lineup for the Devils registered at least one hit in the opener highlighted by a 3-for-3 effort from
Kristina Pelano (Howell, NJ) and a 2-for-3 game from
Kristen Tigar (Hazlet, NJ). Pelano scored twice, while Tigar drove in two and scored two runs of her own as FDU's leadoff hitter.
Hoffman struck out the very first batter of the game to record her 100th career strikeout and only faced four batters in the first. Hoffman loaded the bases in the second on a walk and two strikeouts, but worked out of the game with back-to-back punchouts and a flyout to keep the game scoreless.
FDU struck first with two outs in the bottom of the second as RBI singles by Tigar and

Rachel Reiter (Riverside, Calif.) for a 1-0 edge.
The visitors tied the game in the third on a single through the left side as Sierra Ripka, who reached on a walk and stole both second and third crossed the plate on a hit by Caitlyn Pollock. FDU, however, was quick to answer in the bottom of the frame with a sacrifice fly by Reiter.
The Devils added one in the fifth on an RBI single by Centineo and three in the sixth extending their lead to 6-2. Pelano began the frame with a single to right, moved to second on a bunt and scored on an RBI single by
