Women's Basketball Falls to Misericordia, 64-41, in Regular Season Finale

Dallas, Pa. (February 19) – Despite getting the second double-double of the season by sophomore Tamyah Jones (Dover, Del.), the FDU-Florham women's basketball team fell to Misericordia University, 64-41, in the final regular season game of the 2021-22 season. 
 
Jones paced FDU (2-19, 1-15 MAC Freedom) with 12 points and 11 rebounds on the day, while Angela Downey (Lyndhurst, NJ) chipped in with ten points and three boards. Misericordia (15-10, 10-6 MAC Freedom) received a game-high 14 points as well as three rebounds and three assists from Morgan Haefele. 
 
After a tight opening six and a half minutes of play which saw Cassidy Miller (Roxbury, NJ) give the Devils a 9-8 lead, Misericordia went on a 13-2 run for a 21-11 lead after the first quarter. The middle quarters were closely contested as both teams scored 11 in the second and 12 in the third.

FDU shot 33.3-percent and made eight shots from the floor as well as two from behind the arc in the middle quarters. After 30 minutes of play, the Cougars led by ten at 44-34. A 16-4 run in the fourth quarter ballooned Misericordia's lead to a game-high 23 points as the hosts went on to defeat FDU, 64-41.
 
As a team, FDU shot 34.8-percent (16-for-46) from the floor, 17.6-percent (3-for-17) from three-point range and 54.5-percent (6-for-11) from the free throw line. The Devils scored 24 points in the paint and 12 points off of Misericordia turnovers. The Cougars shot 37.7-percent (26-for-69) from the floor, 25.8-percent (8-for-31) from three-point range and 44.4-percent (4-for-9) from the free throw line. Misericordia scored 26 points in the paint and 26 points off of FDU turnovers.
 
FDU, the ninth seed in the upcoming Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Tournament, will play at Delaware Valley University on Monday, February 21 at 6:00 pm. This will be the first postseason appearance for the Devils, which split the season series with the Aggies, since the 2017-18 season
