Dallas, Pa. (February 19) – In the final regular season game of the 2021-22 season, the FDU-Florham men's basketball was defeated by Misericordia University by an 89-75 final score. 

FDU (4-21, 0-16 MAC Freedom) was led by Oliver Ortman (North Caldwell, NJ), who produced a team high 13 points and five rebounds to go along with a pair of assists. Both Aidan Newman (Gainesville, Fla.) and Michael Dabas (Middletown, NJ) contributed 12 points apiece in the effort. Misericordia (9-16, 7-9 MAC Freedom) saw five student-athletes score in double figures highlighted by a 20 point performance by Jake Bartholomew.
 
Just three minutes in, FDU held an 11-5 edge following back-to-back three-point buckets by Ortman. Misericordia, however, answered with a 15-0 run for a 20-11 lead, an advantage the hosts would not relinquish for the rest of today's game. The Cougars built their lead to as many as 20 (41-21) with 7:05 to play in the opening half.

FDU outscored Misericordia, 16-9, down the stretch to cut its deficit to 13 points (50-37) at the break. Over that run, the Devils converted a trio of shots from behind the arc, two of which came from Newman. 
 
The Devils trailed by double digit points the entirety of the second half and were only able to get as close as 13 points late in regulation as the Cougars defeated FDU by an 89-75 score.

FDU shot 41.8-percent (28-for-67) from the floor, 40.5-percent (15-for-37) from three-point range and 57.1-percent (4-for-7) from the free throw line. The Devils scored 24 of their 75 points in the paint, scored 21 points off of turnovers and received 29 points off the bench.

Misericordia shot 59.6-percent (34-for-57) from the floor, 53.6-percent (15-for-28) from three-point range and 50.0-percent (6-for-12) from the free throw line. The Cougars scored 34 points in the paint, 34 points off the bench and 18 points off of FDU turnovers.
 
FDU, the ninth seed in the upcoming Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Tournament, will play at King's College (Pa.) on Monday, February 21 at 7:00 pm. This will be the first postseason appearance for the Devils since the 2019-20 season and 15th overall in the MAC Freedom Tournament in program history.
