DeSales Tops Men's Basketball, 74-49, in MAC Freedom Action

Madison, NJ (December 3) – The FDU-Florham men's basketball team fell by a 74-49 final in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action to DeSales University on Saturday afternoon at home.

FDU-Florham (1-7, 1-1 MAC Freedom) was guided by Matthew Johnson (Oak Ridge, NJ), who registered 16 points in the effort, while Carson Woods (Phoenix, Ariz.) chipped in with seven points to go along with a team-high seven rebounds. Brian Nichols (Roxbury, NJ) also tallied 13 points, four rebounds, two blocks and a steal for the Devils today.
 
DeSales (5-2, 2-0 MAC Freedom), which led the game from start to finish, was paced by Elijah Eberly, who tallied a 15 point, 10 rebounds double-double to go along with two assists, two blocks and two steals.
 
DeSales jumped out to an eight point edge just 3:23 into the game before a layup by Johnson put the Devils on the board. FDU-Florham was able to keep its deficit to single digits until the Bulldogs put together a 6-0 run to take a 38-26 lead into halftime. Their 6-0 spurt was part of a 10-1 half ending run.
 
In the second half, DeSales maintained its advantage and over the last 7:09 of regulation scored 18 of the game's final 25 points to account for the 74-49 score.
 
FDU-Florham shot 41.3-percent (19-for-46) from the floor, 33.3-percent (6-for-18) from three point range and 55.6-percent (5-for-9) from the free throw line. The Devils scored 24 of their 49 points in the paint and 11 points off turnovers.

DeSales shot 46.4-percent (26-for-56) from the floor, 50.0-percent (9-for-18) from three point range and 86.7-percent (13-for-15) from the free throw line. The Bulldogs scored 34 points in the paint, 31 bench points and 16 points off FDU-Florham turnovers.

FDU-Florham will host Stevens Institute of Technology in another MAC Freedom contest on Wednesday, December 7 at 6:00 pm in the Ferguson Recreation Center.
