Toska & Blackburn Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Honors

Madison, NJ (November 15) – FDU-Florham men's soccer sophomore Drilon Toska (Lincoln Park, NJ) and women's soccer senior Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ) have earned spots on the College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Academic All-District Team for their hard work on the field and in the classroom this year.

Toska was one of 735 Division III men's soccer student-athletes to earn the honor this year, while Blackburn was one of 547 Division III women's soccer student-athletes selected for Academic All-District accolades in 2022.

Toska, a computer science major with a 3.94 grade point average, played in 19 games and registered a team-high eight goals and 16 points for the Devils this fall. Toska's eight goals were the best in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) and his 16 points ranked fifth in the league.

Toska, who was selected to the MAC Academic Honor Roll last season, led the Devils to their first MAC Freedom Tournament since 2017 where they defeated Wilkes University in penalty kicks in the quarterfinal round to advance. FDU-Florham also qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament for the first time since the 2013 campaign. Toska is involved in the community through Team IMPACT and Top Soccer and serves as a soccer referee in Morris County.

Blackburn, a health studies major with a 3.87 grade point average, was selected to the All-MAC Freedom First Team for the second consecutive season after a record-breaking year in net for the Devils. Blackburn guided FDU-Florham to its first ECAC Division III title since 2005 and broke the individual single season program record for goalkeeper wins (17) and shutouts (11). As a team, FDU-Florham broke the single season records for wins (17), winning percentage (.761), longest winning streak (11), longest unbeaten streak (11), most consecutive wins at the start of a season (11), shutouts (13) and most consecutive shutouts (5).

Blackburn individually played in all 23 matches and nearly 2,000 minutes in net for FDU-Florham. The senior keeper made 106 saves and tallied a save percentage of .809 as well as a goals against average of 1.13. Blackburn's 1996 minutes in net rank second in NCAA Division III women's soccer this year, while her 11 shutouts were sixth most in the country this season.

Both Toska and Blackburn will now appear on the national ballot for consideration for the CSC Academic All-America Team, which will be announced in early December.
