Stevens Tops Women's Soccer 4-1 in MAC Freedom Opener

Hoboken, NJ (October 4) – The FDU-Florham women's soccer team fell to Stevens Institute of Technology, 4-1, in its Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) opener on Tuesday evening at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.

The Devils struck first in tonight's MAC Freedom contest as Ashley Dietrich (Middletown, NJ) fired a shot into the upper right corner of the net in the 16th minute off a pair of one touch passes from both Ashleigh Frankel (Branchburg, NJ) and Mia Lopez (Rockaway, NJ).

Stevens, however, answered with a pair of goals prior to halftime for a 2-1 edge at the break. The hosts scored once in the 23rd minute as Amelia Rehrig finished a pass from Rachel Rouse. Rouse then set up Sarah Wnorowski's game winning goal in the 34th minute.
 
Rehrig scored her second goal of the game in the 54th minute before Jana Mucci added the fourth goal of the game for the homestanding Ducks in the 64th minute for the 4-1 advantage.

In net, FDU-Florham keeper Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ) moved to 11-2 on the year with six saves on the night. As a team, Stevens held a 12-3 advantage in shots, while FDU-Florham held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

FDU-Florham will head to Delaware Valley University on Friday, October 7 for another MAC Freedom matchup at 4:00 pm.
