Field Hockey Edged By Misericordia in MAC Freedom Play In Game

Madison, NJ (October 31) - The fourth-seeded FDU-Florham field hockey team was stopped by fifth-seeded Misericordia University, 1-0, in the 4/5 Play In Game of the 2022 MAC Freedom Field Hockey Tournament on Robert T. Shields Field, on Monday Night.

In the first quarter of the game, both teams led a balanced attack but were not able to get a shot off, as both defenses kept the ball out of the cage.

Misericordia's Meghan Radnoff was able to get the Cougars on the board first with 3:27 left in the second quarter. Radnoff's goal was scored off a penalty corner from Emily Ervin. The Devils were awarded three penalty corners and attempted four shots in the second quarter but the score stood at 1-0 in favor of the visitors at the break.

FDU-Florham record two shots in the fourth quarter, but was unable to convert as Misericordia took home the victory in tonight's contest, 1-0, to advance the Cougars into the semifinals of the MAC Freedom Tournament.

Sophomore Emily Schlessinger (Asbury, NJ) was forced to make two saves in tonight's game for the Devils. As a team, Misericordia held a slim 7-6 edge in shots and penalty corners.

The Devils finish the 2022 campaign with a 9-10 overall record.
