Women's Soccer Clinches Postseason Berth With 2-0 Senior Day Shutout Win Over Lycoming

Madison, NJ (October 29) – Powered by two goals from sophomore Ashley Dietrich (Middletown, NJ), the FDU-Florham women's soccer team clinched a spot in the 2022 Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Tournament with a 2-0 win over Lycoming College tonight.
 
With tonight's shutout victory, FDU-Florham tied the program record for most wins in a season (15) with the 2010 team and senior goalkeeper Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ) broke the single season program records for wins (15) and shutouts (10).

Lycoming College came into today's game ranked fifth in the most recent NCAA Division III women's soccer Region IV Rankings.

After a scoreless first half, FDU-Florham broke through for the first goal of the game in the 60th minute as Dietrich finished a one touch pass from Mia Lopez (Rockaway, NJ) that came off a free kick by Amanda Martinho (Bridgewater, NJ).
 
Lycoming nearly tied the match up at 1-1 12 minutes later, but Kristen Desrats (Warwick, NY) cleared the ball off the line to keep the Warriors off the board.

Dietrich added an insurance goal for the Devils in the 84th minute off a failed clear by Lycoming just outside the box to account for the 2-0 final.
 
Blackburn registered eight saves to earn her single season program record 15th win of the year and tenth shutout of the year.

FDU-Florham will travel to DeSales University as the fifth seed in the 2022 MAC Freedom Tournament on Monday, October 31 at a time to be determined tomorrow afternoon.
