Women's Soccer Falls to DeSales in MAC Freedom Play In Game

Center Valley, Pa. (October 31) – The fifth-seeded FDU-Florham women's soccer team fell to fourth-seeded DeSales University, 5-1, in the opening round of the 2022 Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) Tournament this afternoon on the road.

FDU-Florham, now 15-5-1 overall, will await word of a potential berth to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Tournament, while DeSales (12-5-2), will advance to the MAC Freedom Semifinals and play at top-seeded and nationally-ranked #2/2 Misericordia University on Wednesday, November 2.

DeSales scored three times in a span of 5:44 over the opening 18 minutes of today's playoff contest and outshot FDU-Florham 8-1 in the first half. Allie Trick scored twice for the Bulldogs, once in the 13th minute and again in the 18th minute. Katie Padgett scored DeSales' second goal of the game and added an assist in the first half.

Holly McFarland a fourth goal for DeSales in the 58th minute, while Makayla Issakhani finished a pass from Trick to make the score 5-0 in the 78th minute.

FDU-Florham finally got on the scoreboard in the 87th minute when junior Lauren Byrne (Roxbury, NJ) was awarded a penalty kick. She converted to make the score 5-1 and to record her first collegiate goal.
 
In today's game, DeSales held a 22-5 advantage in shots and a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.

Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ) recorded eight saves this afternoon for the Devils to move her record to 15-5-1.
