Hoboken, NJ (January 19) – The FDU-Florham women's basketball team fell to Stevens Institute of Technology this evening by a 77-26 final in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action inside Canavan Arena.
FDU (1-11, 1-7 MAC Freedom) was led by
Arian Coleman (Camden, NJ) and
Kiley Drezek (Seymour, Conn.) who both tallied seven points in tonight's contest. Coleman added nine rebounds and three assists to her line, while Drezek notched five boards for the Devils.
Stevens (12-2, 7-1 MAC Freedom) received a game-high 12 points from Anika Damera who played 13 minutes off the bench. Allie Moss shot 5-for-8 from the floor and notched 11 points to go along with three steals, two assists and five rebounds for the Ducks.
The Devils jumped out to an early 5-1 edge after a three point bucket by Coleman, but the hosts scored the final 11 points of the quarter for a 12-5 lead through one. FDU was able to keep the contest at one possession for the first half of the second quarter as the Devils trailed by just three at 14-11, but Stevens scored the final 17 points of the stanza for a 31-11 advantage at the break.
Stevens scored the first 11 points of the third quarter before FDU stopped the 28-0 run that stretched around halftime. A three pointer by
Angela Downey (Lyndhurst, NJ) cut the run before the Ducks ended the quarter on a 14-2 run for a 56-16 lead through three. Stevens outscored FDU 21-10 in the final quarter as the Ducks won the game by a 77-26 final.
FDU shot 19.2-percent from the floor (10-for-52), 19.0-percent (4-for-21) from three point range and 28.6-percent (2-for-7) from the free throw line. Stevens shot 33.8-percent (26-for-77) from the floor, 21.7-percent (5-for-23) from three point range and 76.9-percent (20-for0-26) from the free throw line.
FDU will travel to Wilkes University on Saturday, January 22 at 1:00 pm for another MAC Freedom contest.
