Flukey's Hat Trick Leads Field Hockey to 6-0 Win Over Centenary in Home Opener

Madison, NJ (September 5) – A hat trick by senior Haleigh Flukey (Ocean City, NJ) led the FDU-Florham field hockey team to a 6-0 non-conference win over Centenary University on Sunday afternoon on Robert T. Shields Field.

First Quarter:
  • FDU scored three times in a span of four minutes for the early advantage. Flukey scored her first, off a feed by Lauren Nawrotzki (Flemington, NJ) 3:28 into the game. Then just three minutes later Flukey found Ashley Moskal (Washington, NJ) for her second goal of the season. 
     
  • Before the quarter was up, Flukey registered her second goal and fifth point of the period as Sydney Moskal (Washington, NJ) shoveled a pass to her stick and planted the ball into the back of the cage.
Third Quarter:
  • Just as the Devils did in the first quarter, they scored three more in the third. Senior Emily Vizzuso (Montville, NJ) registered her first goal of the season off a feed from Kendall Moore just 46-seconds into the stanza. 
     
  • Flukey then completed her hat trick just two minutes later on an unassisted strike. Moore capped the scoring for the Devils when she finished a pass from A. Moskal.
FDU out shot Centenary, 27-0, and held a 14-0 advantage in penalty corners. 

Emily Prachthauser (Morristown, NJ) and Emily Schlessinger (Asbury, NJ) split time in net for the Devils, while Centenary keeper Jenyfer Pereira made 14 saves on 20 shots.

FDU returns to action on Wednesday, September 8 with a non-conference match against Ramapo College at 7:00 pm on Robert T. Shields Field.
