Women's Soccer Cuts Ribbon on Elizabeth Ruth Hennessy Field as FDU Downs John Jay, 4-0

Madison, NJ (September 25) – The FDU-Florham women's soccer team blanked John Jay, 4-0, on Saturday morning in a non-conference matchup on Elizabeth Ruth Hennessy Field. Prior to the match, FDU had a ribbon cutting ceremony on the field to celebrate the official opening of its new facility. 

Not only did the Devils have something to celebrate before the game, but at the conclusion FDU-Florham women's soccer head coach Kristin Giotta was honored as she earned her 150th win at the helm of the program.

How It Happened:
 
  • After a scoreless first half, FDU applied the pressure and scored four goals over the final 45 minutes of action. Jenna Conanan (Hazlet, NJ) got the scoring started for FDU with an unassisted strike.
     
  • Ashley Dietrich (Middletown, NJ) registered her team-leading fourth goal of the campaign giving FDU a 2-0 advantage. Francesca Escudero (Bridgewater, NJ) was credited with the assist on Dietrich's goal. Not long after, Dietrich tallied her third point of the match as she fed the ball to Amanda Croce (Wayne, NJ) for the 3-0 lead.
     
  • Before the final horn rang, Conanan dished the ball to Madison Kleinwaks (Boonton, NJ) making the final score 4-0 in favor of the Devils.
As a team, FDU out shot John Jay, 16-4, and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks. In net, all three keepers made appearances and all made one save apiece for the Devils. Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ) played the first half, while Ashley Paulino (Linden, NJ) and Maggie Horn (Pompton Lakes, NJ) split time in the second half.
 
FDU will have a quick turnaround as the Devils will travel to Elmira College for a non-conference matchup tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 pm.
