Madison, NJ (September 2) – The FDU-Florham women's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over Ramapo College this afternoon in the first-ever game played on Elizabeth Ruth Hennessy Field. Not only did the Devils win the season opener, but head coach
Kristin Giotta picked up the 150th win of her coaching career.

First Half:
- FDU was awarded a penalty kick in the 23rd minute and was taken from the left side by graduate student Tatiana Nieto (Clark, NJ). The ball was rocketed into the box and deflected off the foot of a Ramapo defender as the Devils took a 1-0 lead.
- The Devils out shot the Roadrunners by a 7-2 margin over the opening 90 minutes of action.
Second Half:
- Ramapo put pressure of FDU as the visitors posed ten shots in the second stanza. The Roadrunners had two good looks at the net but the Devils defense cleared the ball off the goal line twice, preserving the shutout.
Inside the Box Score:
- Graduate student Ashley Paulino (Linden, NJ) and junior Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ) both played 45 minutes and teamed up for the combined shutout this afternoon. Thanks to the play of FDU's defense, the Devils picked up their fourth straight season opening victory.
- FDU Head Coach Kristin Giotta, the winningest coach in program history, earned the 150th win of her coaching career and the 145th win on the sidelines at Fairleigh Dickinson.
- Giotta has been coaching the FDU women's soccer team since 2006 and has guided the Devils to ten postseason tournaments and to a pair of Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) regular season titles.
FDU-Florham will host a pair of non-conference games this weekend on Elizabeth Ruth Hennessy Field. The Devils will welcome Rutgers-Newark on Saturday at 12:00 pm and Alvernia University on Sunday at noon.
