Madison, NJ (September 14) – The Fairleigh Dickinson University volleyball team fell in straight sets to DeSales University by set scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-17 in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC Freedom) matchup inside the Ferguson Recreation Center tonight.

First Set:
- Early in the first set, the Devils trailed by just two (7-5), but DeSales went on a 7-0 run to pull away at 14-5. FDU cut its deficit to six at 14-8 following an ace by Rachel Reiter (Riverside, Calif.) and an error by DeSales, but the Bulldogs closed the frame on a 11-4 run to take it 25-12.
Second Set:
- The second set was tied six different times with the final time coming at 13-13 following an ace by Adrienne DeFuria (Randolph, NJ). The Devils came from four points down to come within a point at 18-17 after an error from the visitors, but DeSales closed the set on a 7-1 run to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the conference matchup.
Third Set:
- DeSales jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the third and never looked back en route to the sweep on the road. FDU attempted to force a fourth set with five consecutive points late, but a kill by Liz Hessberger capped the win for the Bulldogs in the third set, 25-17 and the match, 3-0.
As a team, DeSales led statistically in kills (44-25), aces (6-4), blocks (6-1), assists (43-24) and digs (57-40).
FDU rounds out its homestand with a non-conference matchup with Hunter in the Ferguson Rec Center on Thursday, September 16 at 7:00 pm.
