Madison, NJ (September 11) – A goal by first-year Ashley Dietrich (Middletown, NJ) was the difference for the FDU-Florham women's soccer team as the Devils shutout William Paterson University this afternoon, 1-0, on Elizabeth Ruth Hennessy Field.

FDU keeper Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ), in her first start of the 2021 season, made three saves in a complete game shutout effort for the Devils. 
 
In the 24th minute, FDU was awarded a corner kick and the kick was taken by Tatiana Nieto (Clark, NJ). Nieto booted the ball into the box and Dietrich headed the ball into the back of the net for the 1-0 advantage.
 
William Paterson brought some pressure in the second half and they got eight shots off over the final 45 minutes, but FDU's defense paired with Blackburn in net secured the shutout.
 
Over the 90-minute match, both teams registered 13 shots, but FDU held a huge 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
 
FDU-Florham will host Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday, September 15 at 4:00 pm in its next match. The game was originally scheduled on the road for the Devils but got switched due to field conditions at Mount Saint Vincent after heavy weather last week.
