CONFERENCE NEWS (May 7, 2021)- The MAC Freedom Conference announced the 2021 Women's Lacrosse All-MAC Freedom Team on Friday. The Devils Head Coach Evan Mager was named Coach of the Year, senior Aliyha Elk was named Defensive Player of the Year and first year Katie Walsh was named both Midfielder and Rookie of the Year. Along with the Coach and Players of the Year honors, FDU also landed six players on the MAC Freedom First Team and one player on the Second Team. Walsh and Elk along side sophomores Kylee Garcia and Emma Ciquera, first year Aubrey Hunter and senior Hannah Bhend earned First Team honors and sophomore goalkeeper Maddy Apap landed on the Second Team.

The Rundown
Coach of the Year, Evan Mager- Led the Devils to the first undefeated season in school history, finishing with an overall record of 16-0, including a 3-0 MAC Freedom playoff record and a tournament championship. FDU is currently in the second round of the NCAA Women's Lacrosse National Tournament. 

Midfielder/Rookie of the Year and First Team Selection, Katie Walsh- Walsh lit up the MAC Freedom Conference in her first season in Madison, finishing as a five time recipient of the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week and one time recipient of the Defensive Player of the Week honors. The first year midfielder compiled 74 goals and 11 assists for 85 points with 142 draw controls (single season record), 66 ground balls (single season record) and 36 caused turnovers (single season record). This is also the first time in program history a player has been named both Rookie and Midfielder of the Year. 

Defensive Player of the Year and First Team Selection, Aliyha Elk- In her final season in a Devils uniform, Elk was fantastic. She collected 19 goals, 23 ground balls, 14 caused turnovers and two draw controls, playing in all 16 games for FDU. 

First Team Selection, Kylee Garcia- Finished the season leading the team in goals with 79 including 18 assists, 161 shots, 29 ground balls, 30 caused turnovers and 20 draw controls. Garcia surpassed the 100 point mark in only her second season in a Devils uniform. 

First Team Selection, Emma Ciquera- Played in all 16 games for the Devils collecting 37 goals, three assists, 30 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers.

First Team Selection, Aubrey Hunter- Was the key on all draw controls during the 2021 campaign for FDU, finishing with 84 on the season. She also collected 27 goals, 13 assists, 38 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers. 

First Team Selection, Hannah Bhend- Played a key roll on defense all year for FDU, collecting 22 caused turnovers, 17 ground balls and two goals, while playing in all 16 games for the Devils. 

Second Team Selection, Maddy Apap- Apap has been a staple in net for FDU in her two seasons in Madison. She currently boasts a 17 game winning streak dating back to the final game of the 2020 season. In 2021, Apap started and played every minute for FDU, finishing with a .396 save percentage and 69 total saves. She allowed just 6.9 goals per game during that span.
