TEANECK, NJ (April 3, 2021)- FDU Baseball hosted Wilkes University at the Namioli Family Baseball Complex on the campus of FDU-Metro on Saturday afternoon, dropping a double header, 7-18 and 4-13 . With the loss, the Devils move to 3-13 overall and in the MAC Freedom and the Colonels go to 7-9 overall and in conference play.
GAME 1 – L 18-7
Senior
Christian Capuano started on the mound for FDU.
Wilkes struck early, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning off a home run. Capuano held off the Colonels with a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the second. Wilkes broke through in the top of the third to score two more, both off of RBIs. The Devils rallied back in the bottom of the third to tie the game at four all. FDU was able to get themselves into scoring position with the bases loaded off of a walk by junior
Bobby Hefferon, a single from first year
Tyrus Chippendale, and Senior
Nate Peacock reached on an error. Senior
Matt Nodoro walked, scoring Hefferon. After Junior
Tommy Moore and Junior
Tyler McCulloch were able to pick up an RBI a piece and score Chippendale and Peacock, Wilkes made a pitching change. The Devils took advantage of the switch scoring Nodoro off of sophomore

Wilkes scored three runs in the top of the fourth to bring the score to 7-4. FDU continued to fight offensively, putting together a rally in the bottom of the fourth, started by Chippendale. After Chippendale and Peacock walked and stole a base each, Nodoro sacrifice flied out to left field allowing Chippendale to score. Then, McCulloch's RBI single to the pitcher brought Peacock home, to finish out the inning with the Devils only one run back. Hefferon took the ball in the fifth leading his team to a quick inning defensively. Kubas was able to reach base off of a bunt and then steal second. Hefferon singled down the left line to have runners on both first and third. It was Chippendale's RBI single to center field that brought Kubas home and tied the game at seven all. The effort however, fell short. The Colonels were able to pick up eleven runs in the remaining two innings to bring the final score to 18-7.
Notes
-Capuano tossed 4.0 innings on the mound for the Devils. He recorded six strikeouts in the game, a team high for the 2021 Devils. Capuano also leads the team in strikeouts this season.
-Six different Devils recorded a hit in the game, five different Devils recorded an RBI, and five different Devils recorded a run in todays contest.

GAME 2 – L 4-13
First Year
Jonathan Rodenhaver started on the hill for FDU.
The Devils defense started out strong with a three up, three down in the top of the first inning. The Colonels would go on to score two runs in next two innings to bring the score to 2-0. Kubas got the offense going for the Devils in the bottom of the third with a single down the left field line. Senior
Chris Ciancimino used a SAC bunt to advance Kubas to second and into scoring position. Peacock got FDU on the board with an RBI single to right center that scored Kubas. The Devils were able to tie the game in the following inning
After, Moore walked, senior
AJ Yurista hit a single, and sophomore
Vincent Ferrigno utilized a SAC bunt, the Devils runners were in scoring position. Graduate
Michael Tufano took advantage with an RBI single to center field that scored Moore and tied the game at 2-2. The Colonels broke through again in the fifth to regain the lead 5-2. FDU continued to fight offensively, putting together a rally in the bottom of the fifth inning, started by Chippendale. After Chippendale singled, Nodoro doubled, and Moore walked, the bases were loaded. A Yurista fielder's choice scored Chippendale. With runners left in scoring position, Ferrigno doubled to left field to bring Moore home and cut the score to 5-4. In the remaining four innings, the Colonels would score eight unanswered runs to finialize the score, 13-4
Notes
-Two Devils, Peacock and Ferrigno, recorded two hits apiece in the contest.
-Eight different Devils recorded a hit, with three different players knocking a run in.

Lead Devils
Currently three Devils sit in the top 5 in the Middle Atlantic Conference in various categories.
-Moore currently leads the MAC in home runs, is second in slugging percentage and RBIs, is fourth in runs scored, and is fifth in assists.
-Peacock currently leads the MAC in runs scored, hits, and at bats.
-Yurista is third in walks and fifth in putouts
Next Up
FDU hosts Delaware Valley in the first day of the back-to-back MAC Freedom DH's, with the first pitch scheduled for 11 AM.
