TEANECK, NJ (April 10, 2021)- FDU Baseball hosted Delaware Valley at Fairleigh Dickinson University Metropolitan on Saturday afternoon, sweeping the doubleheader, 5-1 and 13-12.

Game 1- 5-1, W
Senior
Christian Capuano started on the hill for the Devils. Capuano had his best start of the season, tossing six innings of one run ball and tying a career high in strikeouts with nine. He picked up his first win of the season to improve to 1-2.

The FDU offense got on the board early in the contest after a single from senior leadoff hitter
Nate Peacock, and walk from senior
Michael Tufano. With runners on base, junior
Tommy Moore cracked an RBI single and senior
AJ Yurista followed with a sac fly. Del Val responded with their only run in the top of the third inning, before the Devils increased their lead in the third thanks to a senior
Matt Nodoro RBI sac fly and Moore's seventh homerun of the season. With a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, sophomore
Chris Kubas hit the first homerun of his career to deep center field. Yurista came in to shut the door in the seventh for the save.

Peacock and Moore each collected two hits apiece, with Peacock scoring twice and Moore driving in two. Yurista, Kubas and Nodoro all finished with RBI's.

Game 2, 13-12, W
Senior Joe Kastner started on the mound for FDU in game two.

After a quick top of the first inning from the Devils starter, FDU's offense jumped again, this time to the tune of six runs in the bottom of the frame. In the half inning, Peacock, Tufano and Nodoro all walked and scored, Moore was hit by a pitch and sophomore
DJ Gonnelli and first year
Tyrus Chippendale each collected RBI singles. The Devils added to their lead in the second, after Moore crushed his eighth homerun of the season to left field.

Delaware Valley was able to add five runs on five hits in the top of the third inning, to cut the FDU lead to 7-5. In the bottom of the third, the Devils responded. Gonnelli walked, Chippendale singled and senior
Chris Ciancimino roped an RBI single to score Gonnelli with Chippendale following on a throwing error. Up 9-5, first-year
Jonathan Rodenhaver took the hill. The Aggies added one on the young righty in the top of the fourth, before the Devils responded again in the bottom of the fourth with two runs thanks to a Gonnelli RBI single and a Kubas fielders choice RBI. Each team added a run in the fifth to bring the score to 12-7. The Aggies added in the sixth and seventh to cut the lead to 12-9. An Adili sac fly made in 13-9 Devils headed into the eighth.

DJ McGuinness backed up Rodenhaver, pitching a clean eighth. Del Val battled in the ninth, scoring 3 runs before McGuinness closed the door for hist first career save.

Gonnelli led the way for FDU with three hits and two RBI. Adili collected three RBI, the most in a single game in his career. Moore, Tufano, Ciancimino and Chippendale all collected two hits apiece. Rodenhaver finished as the winning pitcher for FDU, improving to 2-2 on the year. Â
