Women's Lacrosse Stays Undefeated at Home versus Misericordia

MADISON, NJ (April 17, 2021)- FDU Women's Lacrosse hosted conference foe Misericordia University on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Cougars 19-7 to remain undefeated on the season at 11-0. 
 
First Half
FDU scored the game's first goal just 48-seconds into the contest off the stick of sophomore Kylee Garcia. After Misericordia tied it up at one apiece, Garcia netted two more to increase the Devils lead to 3-1. Fellow sophomore Emma Ciquera and senior Mia Michaelides got in on the action, each netting a goal and increasing the FDU advantage to 5-1. After another Cougar goal made it 5-2, the Devils rattled off four straight to continue to add to their lead. Garcia scored her fourth followed by first year Katie Walsh's first of the game assisted by first year Aubrey Hunter and Ciquera with two more. Misericordia cut the lead to 9-3, before the Devils added two more before the end of the half, taking an 11-3 lead into the break.
 
Second Half
Misericordia outscored FDU 3-2 in the early part of the second half, before the Devils closed the door in the final 20-minutes of play. With the lead at 15-6, the Devils score four straight goals to put the game out of reach to the Cougars.
 
Scoring Machines
Ciquera led all scorers with seven goals in the game. Garcia followed with four, Walsh, Michaelides and Hunter each collected two apiece and seniors Madison Wood and Aliyha Elk added one each.
 
Making Saves
Sophomore goalkeeper Maddy Apap earned her 11-straight win in net for the Devils, making 8 saves on the day, with keys saves throughout the contest.
 
Another One
Walsh continues to break records for FDU, collecting the 100th draw control of her career in only 11 games. In the game, her and Hunter combined for 17 total draw controls, 11 for Walsh and six for Hunter.
