MADISON, NJ (March 6, 2021)- FDU Women's Basketball hosted Misericordia University on Saturday evening, falling 57-45. With the loss, the Devils fall to 0-5 overall and 0-5 in the MAC Freedom while the Cougars improve to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in conference.

First Quarter
FDU started the game hot, going on a 9-0 run through the first four minutes of play, holding Misericordia scoreless till the 3:30 mark. On the run, sophomore
Jayda Bing scored seven points on 3-3 shooting from the field, adding a point at the line and first-year,
Destiny Knight knocked down a jumper in the paint to complete the run. After the Cougars first bucket of the game at 3:30, senior,
Francesca Shipe knocked down a jumper to regain the nine-point advantage. Mis hit a bucket and Shipe knocked in a free throw to end the quarter, FDU led 12-6.

Second Quarter
Misericordia started off the second with four straight points, cutting the Devils lead to two, 12-10. Bing hit two at the line to increase the lead back to four, 14-10. Senior,
Arian Coleman hit a jumper at 8:14 to extend the FDU advantage to five, 16-11, before the Cougars started to run. Mis scored the games next seven points to take their first lead of the game, 18-16, with 5:08 remaining in the half. FDU responded quickly, thanks to another basket in the paint for Shipe, the game was tied at 18 all. A Cougar three and Shipe two gave MU the advantage, 21-20. Six straight points from Misericordia gave them their largest lead of the game, at six, 26-20. Shipe continued to heat up, hitting her third straight bucket to end the run and bring the deficit to four. One more Cougar bucket before the end of the half gave Mis the lead at the break, 28-22.

Third Quarter
The Cougars got the scoring started in the second half and continued on an offensive run, outscoring FDU 17-5 in the quarter. For the Devils, Coleman scored three while Bing and Knight each added a free throw. Mis took a 45-27 advantage into the final frame.

Fourth Quarter
After the Cougars extended their lead to 21-points with 8:02 left, Bing and Coleman combined for four straight point to decrease the deficit. The Devils continued to fight, chipping away at the MU lead. FDU scored ten points in the game's final five-minutes, outscoring the Cougars down the stretch. First-year
Anissa Arteaga got it started, followed by Bing, a three from sophomore,
Angela Downey, a free throw from Ship and another bucket from Bing. The offensive outburst wasn't enough, Mis secured a 57-45 victory.

Lead Devil
Bing scored a season high 18 points , recorded eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals.

Shipe continued her hot play, recording her first double-double of the season, finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds. She also added three assists and two blocks.

FDU out rebounded Misericordia 18-15 on the offensive glass.
