MADISON, NJ (March 31, 2021)- FDU Women's Lacrosse took on non-conference opponent Alvernia University on Wednesday afternoon, winning, 20-7. This is the seventh win in a row for the Devils and the first time in program history women's lacrosse has started 7-0.
First Half
FDU jumped out to an early four goal lead, thanks to goals from four different Devils. Sophomore
Olivia Chaoush started it off at 29:02, before first-year
Katie Walsh netted her first of the game. Sophomore
Kylee Garcia put one in the back of the net at 25:38, followed by first-year
Aubrey Hunter off the assist from junior
Paige Frye. Alvernia called a timeout down 4-0 and looking to change the momentum. The Golden Wolves did just that, scoring two straight goals within 36-seconds of each other, cutting the FDU lead in half, 4-2. After Garcia scored her second to make it 5-2, Alvernia netted another. With a 5-3 lead and 16-minutes left in the first half, FDU hit its stride.

The Devils scored nine straight goals in ten minutes, securing a 14-3 lead and the games momentum. The goal scorers in the run for FDU were, Garcia (3), sophomore

Aliyha Elk, Walsh, Hunter and Chaoush. Senior
Madison Wood in her first action of the year, picked up an assist on goal number 11 and senior
Mia Michaelides picked up one on goal 12. After one more Alvernia goal, cutting the lead to 14-4, Garcia scored her fifth of the game, giving the Devils a 15-4 halftime lead.

Second Half
FDU outscored Alvernia 5-3 in the second half of play. Michaelides led it off on an assist from Hunter, followed by Ciquera from Michaelides, Frye from Chaoush and Garcia twice unassisted to round out the scoring. FDU closed out the victory, 20-7.

Maddy Apap started in net for the Devils, making five saves on the day.

D-FENCE, D-FENCE, D-FENCE
FDU led the turnover battle, 19-10, with six different Devils causing two turnovers or more, led by senior
Hannah Bhend with four and Garcia and Chaoush with three apiece. As a team, FDU scooped up 19 ground balls. Michaelides led the way in that category with four.

Crazy 8
Garcia was unstoppable for FDU, scoring 8 goals on the day, the most she has scored in a single game during her career. She also finished with 12 shots on goal, another career milestone for the sophomore.
