MADISON, NJ (March 27, 2021)- FDU Women's Lacrosse hosted King's College in Madison, NJ on Saturday afternoon, winning their sixth straight contest, 20-2. With the win, the Devils improve to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in MAC Freedom Conference play, while the Monarchs fall to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play. This is the best start for FDU Women's Lacrosse in program history.
FIRST HALF
FDU got the scoring started just 35-seconds in the contest, with a goal from sophomore
Olivia Chaoush on a free position shot. Starting goalkeeper,
Maddy Apap kept the lead at one with multiple saves over the next six-minutes of play. FDU capitalized off the goaltenders play, netting their second of the game, this time off the stick of first-year
Katie Walsh, man-down. Chaoush added her second and first-year
Aubrey Hunter scored her first, giving FDU a 4-0 advantage with 20-minutes remaining in the half. After King's score their first of the game to cut the Devils lead to 4-1, FDU went on the attack. The Devils scored the next eight straight goals, with two from Walsh and Garcia and one apiece from Hunter, Chaoush, Frye and Ciquera. At the half, FDU led 12-1.
Second Half
The Devils continued to pressure on the offensive side of the ball, scoring seven straight goals to begin the second half of play. Garcia netted another two along with Frye and Hunter, while Walsh added one. With a 19-1 advantage, King's scored their second of the game, before FDU finished the scoring off the stick of Ciquera. The Devils completed the 20-2 victory.
Goals Around
This is the sixth time FDU has scored ten or more goals this season, the fourth time scoring 15 or more and the third time reaching the 20-goal mark.
Leading the Charge
The combination of Walsh, Garcia and Hunter scored 12 goals, four apiece, to lead the Devils offense.
Contributions
Chaoush, Frye and Ciquera rounded out the scoring for FDU, combining for seven goals, three each for Frye and Chaoush, and two for Ciquera.
Bobbing for Apples
The Devils recorded seven assists on the day, led by Frye and Garcia with two apiece.
