Madison, NJ (December 8) – Brooklyn College led 18-2 following the first quarter and never looked back as the Bulldogs topped the FDU-Florham women's basketball team, 67-38, in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday night inside the Ferguson Recreation Center.
FDU (1-8) was led by
Jade-Dee Tolentino (New York, NY), who tallied a team-high ten points, while
Cassidy Miller (Roxbury, NJ) posted four points, three blocks, nine rebounds and an assist in the effort for the Devils. Brooklyn (6-1), which shot 42.2-percent from the floor, was guided by a 14 point, 16 rebound double double by Chanel Jemmott. Four Bulldogs posted double digit point totals including Gianna Gotti, who tallied a game-high 15 points.
Miller scored the first and only basket for the Devils in the opening quarter before the Bulldogs scored the final 15 points of the quarter over a seven minute span. Tolentino broke the 17-0 run that stretched into the second quarter with a layup early in the stanza, but Brooklyn answered with a 7-1 run to extend its lead to 22 at 27-5. The Bulldogs led 33-10 at the break.
The second half of the game was played much closer as Brooklyn outscored FDU 34-28 over the final 20 minutes of action.
Kiley Drezek (Seymour, Conn.) paced the Devils with five points in the third, while
Destiny Knight (Philadelphia, Pa.) led FDU with six points in the fourth.
As a team, FDU shot 22.6-percent (12-for-53) from the floor, 24.0-percent (6-for-25) from three point range and 57.1-percent (8-for-14) from the free throw line. The Devils scored 12 points in the paint and 15 points off of turnovers. FDU's bench also accounted for 29 of its 38 points in tonight's contest.
FDU will play its final Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) contest of the calendar year on Saturday as the Devils will travel to Lycoming College for a 1:00 pm matchup with the Warriors.
