Wilkes Comes From Behind to Defeat Women's Basketball, 52-46

Madison, NJ (December 4) – Wilkes University used 28 points from Katelyn Kinczel to come from behind to defeat the FDU-Florham women's basketball team, 52-46, in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) matchup in the Ferguson Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon. 
 
The loss dropped FDU's record to 1-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while Wilkes moved to 3-5 and 1-1 in MAC Freedom games.
 
FDU was paced by Arian Coleman (Camden, NJ), who tallied ten points, eight rebounds and four steals, while Angela Downey (Lyndhurst, NJ) added ten points, six rebounds, two steals and a block in today's game for the Devils.

After an even first quarter which saw the score knotted at 12-12 through ten minutes, FDU went on a 13-4 run sparked by six points from Downey on a pair of shots from behind the arc for a 25-16 lead. The visitors, however, answered and scored eight of the final ten points of the half as the Devils led 28-25 at the break.
 
Wilkes pulled away in the third quarter and led by as many as ten points at 44-34 as the Colonels outscored FDU 21-10 in the period.

The Devils tallied the first seven points of the fourth quarter as cut the Colonels lead to just one at 46-45 with eight minutes in regulation. Wilkes scored six of the game's final seven points for the 52-46 victory.
 
As a team, FDU shot 30.6-percent (15-for-49) from the floor, 33.3-percent (8-for-24) from behind the arc and 61.5-percent (8-for-13) from the free throw line.

FDU led statistically in steals (11-8) and held a 34-32 edge in rebounds. The Devils pulled down 11 offensive boards in the game. FDU also scored eight points in the paint and 15 points off of turnovers by the Colonels.

The Devils (1-7, 1-1 MAC Freedom) will welcome Brooklyn College to Madison on Wednesday, December 8 at 7:00 pm for a non-conference contest.
