Madison, NJ (December 3) – Tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, December 3, during its Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) contest against Wilkes University, the FDU-Florham men's basketball team will be hosting a Purple Out awareness game supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
During the men's basketball game tomorrow afternoon, donations will be collected for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the first 125 students in attendance will receive a free purple shirt. We ask that everyone who attends tomorrow's game wears purple in the stands.
This organization means so much to the FDU-Florham men's basketball program as earlier this year, junior forward
Joey Nigro (South River, NJ) was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Nigro recently received word that he is cancer free and has returned to practice with the men's basketball team.
"We're all so proud of Joey's fight throughout a rough six months and are also so thankful for the support of everyone inside and outside of our Devils family," said
FDU-Florham men's basketball head coach Jeff Slanovec. "Now it's our turn to follow Joey's lead and be there for others fighting the same fight. We're excited to bring awareness to and raise funds for those fighting this terrible disease and we thank everyone in advance for their support. I cannot wait to see everyone in their purple tomorrow."
Tip off tomorrow is set for 3:00 pm inside the Ferguson Recreation Center as the Devils will look for their first MAC Freedom win of the season.
