Madison, NJ (November 23) – The FDU-Florham women's basketball team fell to crosstown rival Drew University, 60-37, in a non-conference contest tonight inside the Ferguson Recreation Center.
The loss pushed FDU's record to 0-5, while Drew remained undefeated at 5-0 on the season.
FDU was led by a double double from junior
Cassidy Miller (Roxbury, NJ), who tallied 10 points and 12 rebounds in 33 minutes of action. Senior
Arian Coleman (Camden, NJ) registered a team-high 13 points to go along with five rebounds and two assists.
Drew's Sekya Campbell also notched a double double with 16 points and ten rebounds, while Erin Frederick chipped in with 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists for the Rangers.
Drew raced out to a 9-0 lead over the first 3:38 of the game before FDU scored its first points on the contest on a three pointer by senior
Brielle Fedo (Lake Hopatcong, NJ). The Devils closed the gap to just two points (11-9) at the end of the first as sophomore
Madison Daly (Suffern, NY) hit a shot from behind the arc before the buzzer sounded.
A layup 3:45 into the second quarter by Miller knotted the game up at 13-13 before Drew closed the half on a 14-2 run for the 27-15 lead at halftime. The run was sparked by six points from Campbell.
Drew extended its lead in the third quarter as the visiting rangers outscored the Devils 17-7 in the period. Both teams combined for 31 points in the fourth and Drew tallied its largest lead of 27 at 60-33 with less than two minutes to play as the Rangers took the contest by a 60-37 final.
As a team, FDU shot 24.5-percent from the floor (13-for-53), 16.7-percent from behind the arc (2-for-12) and 69.2-percent (9-for-13) from the free throw line. The Devils scored 18 of its points in the paint and 12 off of turnovers.
FDU will head to Alvernia University on Sunday, November 28 at 4:00 pm for a non-conference game following the Thanksgiving break.
