New York, NY (November 18) – The FDU-Florham women's basketball team received ten points from
Tamyah Jones (Dover, Del.) but fell to the Hunter College Hawks, 54-47, in a non-conference matchup tonight. FDU fell to 0-3 on the year, while the hosts improved to 2-1 this season.
FDU kept the first quarter close and took its first lead of the game at 8-7 eight minutes into the stanza following a jumper by
Madison Daly (Suffern, NY). The Devils scored the opening bucket of the second quarter and cut their deficit to one at 13-12, but Hunter went on a 15-3 run that stretched until halftime for the 29-15 advantage.
The Devils outscored the Hawks 32-25 in the second half as they were piloted by
Arian Coleman (Camden, NJ) and
Brielle Fedo (Lake Hopatcong, NJ), who both scored eight points. Over the same stretch, Jones scored six points,
Cassidy Miller (Roxbury, NJ) scored five points and
Kiley Drezek (Seymour, Conn.)scored two points.
FDU ultimately fell by a 54-47 final score tonight. In addition to Jones' ten points, Miller pulled down a game high ten rebounds, while
Angela Downey (Lyndhurst, NJ) chipped in with nine points in the effort.
The Devils will play their first home game of the season on Saturday, November 20 at 7:00 pm against William Paterson University inside the Ferguson Recreation Center.
