Center Valley, Pa. (October 9) – The FDU-Florham women's soccer team came up just short to DeSales University, 2-1, in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) matchup on the road this afternoon.

The first half of today's matchup at DeSales was scoreless in the first half despite the hosts outshooting FDU by a 10-4 margin. Just 9:51 into the second, DeSales found the back of the net as Meghan Foley found Allie Trick for the 1-0 edge.
DeSales doubled its lead five minutes later when Sam Monteforte scored her third goal of the season from 30 yards out.
FDU found a quick answer to DeSales' second goal in the 64th minute.
Amanda Croce (Wayne, NJ) ripped a shot that was blocked, but the ball deflected right to the foot of
Ashleigh Frankel (Branchburg, NJ), who fired the ball past the DeSales keeper as the Devils cut their deficit in half, 2-1, with still 27 minutes to play.
The Devils had a couple of good looks on net late in the match but could not find the equalizer. Croce shot the ball off a corner kick but Hannah Pacheco stopped the FDU attempt.
Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ) made a season-high 11 saves for FDU over 90 minutes, while Pacheco made three saves in the contest for DeSales.
As a team, DeSales out shot FDU 22-10 (13-4 on goal) and held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
FDU will return home for a MAC Freedom match against Delaware Valley on Tuesday, October 12 at 7:00 pm.
