Croce's Hat Trick Gives Women's Soccer 3-2 OT Win Over King's

Madison, NJ (October 6) – FDU-Florham women's soccer graduate student Amanda Croce (Wayne, NJ) registered her second career hat trick as the Devils defeated King's College, 3-2, in overtime tonight in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) matchup on Robert T. Shields Field.

Records: FDU-Florham (9-3-1, 1-0-1 MAC Freedom); King's (2-5, 0-1 MAC Freedom)
Location: Robert T. Shields Field
FDU Goal Scorers: Amanda Croce (3, 4, 5)

Croce opened the scoring in the 24th minute as she finished a corner kick from Tatiana Nieto (Clark, NJ). About ten minutes later, King's knotted the score up a 1-1 after Ashley Dukehart sent the ball to Kara Keim, tying the match up heading into the break.

With less than 20 minutes to play in regulation, Croce once again gave the Devils the lead as this time she finished a pass from Nathalia Gallo (Parsippany, NJ). Gallo passed the ball from midfield to Croce, who drove through the defense and scored on a 1-on-1 opportunity with the King's keeper.

Just five minutes later, King's first-year Leah Sankey tied the match up for the second time as she fired the ball into the net off a cross from the right side by Grace Conover. The match remained tied at 2-2 for the final 12 minutes of regulation as the Devils went to overtime for the second consecutive conference game.

King's had one chance in the overtime session before a foul was called on the visitors on about the 30 yard line. Amanda Martinho (Bridgewater, NJ) lined up for the free kick and found Croce for the game winner and her second career hat trick.

FDU out shot King's 26-10 (12-7 on net) and held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. FDU keeper Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ) remained undefeated on the season (5-0-1) with five saves in net for the Devils. Tara Bender stopped the ball nine times for King's
