MADISON, N.J. (April 3, 2019) – Senior
Caitlyn Damon recorded her 100th career goal as the FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team cruised to a 19-6 triumph over Delaware Valley University in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom opener Wednesday.
The Devils move to 4-5 on the season, while Delaware Valley drops to 3-4.
The two sides traded the first four goals over the first 6:06 of the game, with senior
Caroline Pape scoring both tallies for the Devils. Senior
Caroline Pape tallied the first four goals for the Devils before sophomore Olivia Chouash netted the next two as the team scored the following eight markers after falling behind 2-1.
Pape had her hand in six of the nine first-half goals, posting five goals and an assist during the rally. The Aggies got within five, scoring two goals within 1:14, but sophomore
Hannah Bhend converted a Pape feed with five seconds remaining in the opening stanza to give FDU a 10-4 edge into the halftime break.
Senior
Megan Nemeth made seven first-half stops for the Devils, who also held the edge in shots, ground balls and draw controls over the opening 30 minutes of play.
Four different goal scorers tallied the first four goals of the second stanza, as Damon, senior
Kathleen Petrucelli, junior
Madison Wood, and sophomore
Mia Michaelides all scored during the opening 12:45 on the second half. After the Aggies stopped the run, FDU closed out their scoring with the next five, capped off with Damon's 100th goal. Delaware Valley added one final marker with 1:04 left to end the contest.
