MADISON, N.J. (April 6, 2019) - Senior
Caroline Pape of the FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team recorded her 100th career point as the Devils topped King's College 19-7.
Pape joins classmate
Caitlyn Damon as the Devils to record their 100th career point this season. The Devils improve to 2-0 in the MAC Freedom as the Monarchs drop to 1-1 in conference play.
The Devils fell behind quickly, going down 2-0 within the first 66 seconds of the game. However, a three-goal run over four minutes helped the Devils reclaim the lead. Goals by sophomores
Hannah Bhend and
Olivia Chaoush tied the game at 2, with Damon giving the Devils the lead with 23:30 left in the half. The Monarchs tied the game five minutes later, but the Devils responded with three more of their own. Bhend netted her second of the game while seniors
Kathleen Petrucelli and Pape each added one of their own.
Damon's second goal of the afternoon gave the Devils a 7-6 lead, but the Kings tied it at 7 with 53 seconds left in the first half. Unfortunately for the Monarchs, this was the last time they would score. A goal by Damon with 16 seconds left in the first half not only gave her the hat-trick but would prove to be the game-winner.
The second half was all Devils as they outscored King's 11-0. Damon added another hat-trick in the second half giving her six on the day, while Petrucelli added two more to give her three on the afternoon. Pape, Chaoush, and senior
Madison Wood each added one of their own in the second half. Junior
Aliyha Elk tallied three of her own in the second stanza to complete the rout for the Devils. Senior
Megan Nemeth record eight saves in net for the win.
