MADISON, N.J. (April 13, 2019) – Seniors
Caitlyn Damon and
Kathleen Petrucelli combined for nine goals to lead the FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team to a 19-4 win over DeSales University Saturday.
FDU improves to 6-6 overall, 3-1 within the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom. DeSales drops to 7-6, 2-2 in the MAC Freedom.
Sophomore
Olivia Chaoush and Petrucelli each recorded a goal and an assist on the first two goals of the game, before the Bulldogs pulled to within one 13 seconds after the Petrucelli tally. Damon completed her hat trick over the next 2:17, as the Devils scored the next 14 goals spanning the two halves. Petrucelli would also finish up her hat-trick during the rally, with junior
Madison Wood also netting a pair. Senior
Caroline Pape finished off the first half with a marker with 2:34 to go, sending the Devils into the break with a commanding 13-1 lead.
The Devils led in every facet of the game during the first 30 minutes, leading in shots (31-3), ground balls (20-6), and draw controls (10-5). FDU was a perfect 7-for-7 on clears during the opening frame and forced 13 Bulldog turnovers.
Wood, Petrucelli and sophomore
Mia Michaelides opened the second with tallies during the first 5:37 before DeSales ended the run midway through the period. The two sides traded the next four goals, with Chaoush and Elk recording their second goals of the afternoon. With just one second remaining in the contest, Petrucelli notched her fourth and final goal of the day, finishing off the 19-4 triumph.

• Damon and Petrucelli each recorded eight points and seven shots. Petrucelli matched a season-high with her four goals, while Damon scored more than four for the sixth game this season.

Erin Gill played a season-high 22:03 and made a career-high seven saves in goal. Her previous best was six against Eastern in 2017.

Nina Shirey forced a team-high two turnovers. The Devils caused 19 DeSales turnovers in the game.
• FDU held a 13-11 edge in draw controls, led by four from Haddad.
• The Devils handed a season-best 13 assists on the 19 goals.
• DeSales only picked up 14 ground balls, a season-low for an opponent this season.
• The Devils have won all three meetings against the Bulldogs.

The Devils are back on the road Monday, taking on Moravian College at 4 p.m. It is a makeup game, as the game was initially scheduled for March 2.
