MADISON, N.J. (March 23, 2019) – The FDU-Florham Devils women's lacrosse team picked up a 12-8 win against Ramapo College in their home-opener Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Caitlyn Damon led all scorers with four goals while junior
Madison Wood and senior
Kathleen Petrucelli added three goals apiece. Senior
Caroline Pape added two goals while also tallying three assists.
FDU-Florham improves to 3-3 on the season while Ramapo drops to 3-2 on the year.
The Devils wasted no time netting the first goal of the game a mere 52 seconds into the game. Wood netted her fifth goal of the season to give FDU the early lead. The Devils scored twice within the next nine minutes to push the lead to 3-0 with 20 minutes left in the first half. Damon and Pape each netted a goal during the run. The Roadrunners would tally the next two goals to make it a 3-2 game with just over 10 minutes left in the first half, but goals by Wood and Pape extend the Devils lead to 5-2. The Roadrunners would cut the lead to 5-3 heading into intermission.
To start the second half, the Devils scored six straight goals within 18 minutes forcing Ramapo to call a timeout. During the 6-0 run, Wood added a goal while Damon added two more with Petrucelli netting a hat-trick during the Devils run. The Devils faced five shots during the spurt; Senior
Megan Nemeth saved three of which. The Roadrunners responded with a 5-1 run but were unable to complete the comeback attempt.
