Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Damon Tallies 100th Career Point as Women's Lacrosse Tops St. Joseph's-Long Island

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (March 22, 2019) – Senior Caitlyn Damon recorded her 100th career point as the FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 16-7 win over St. Joseph's College-Long Island Friday.

The Devils move to 2-3 while the Golden Eagles are now 2-2.

The hosts scored a goal on the first shot of the game 1:07 into the contest before the Devils leveled the game at the 2:13 mark. Senior Caroline Pape fed classmate Kathleen Petrucelli for the equalizer off a free position attempt. That goal started a 4-0 spurt for the team, scoring the next three tallies within a 1:27 span. Damon converted a Pape pass for the second goal, and just 28 seconds later, Pape tallied her first goal of the afternoon.

Junior Madison Wood capped off the run with 21:55 left in the half as Damon hit her for the goal. St. Joe's scored the next two goals to trim the gap to 4-3 before the Devils closed the period out with the final two. After winning a draw, FDU marched down the field, and freshman Bridget Lapham notched the goal to stretch the lead back two. Three minutes later, FDU was awarded a free-position attempt, and sophomore Olivia Chaoush deposited the ball into the goal to send the visitors into the half up 6-3.

The Devils held a 14-10 edge in shots and forced 18 Golden Eagle turnovers over the first 30 minutes.

The guests wasted no time in scoring in the second half, as Pape found Wood off the draw control for her second marker of the afternoon. After the Golden Eagles got a goal back, FDU reeled off the next six goals to take a commanding nine-goal lead. Chaoush netted her second free-position goal of the game to start run, before Damon hit the century mark with her goal at 5:42 of the second period.

Petrucelli would tally the next two goals spanning 1:22 before Damon and sophomore Aliyha Elk scored 50 seconds apart to cap off the six-goal rally. For Elk, it was her second goal of the season. The teams would trade the next two goals, as Petrucelli capped off the hat trick with 14:54 remaining in the game off a free-position shot. Pape and Damon wrapped up the Devils scoring, with Damon scoring her fourth of the game with 2:13 left in the game.
