MADISON, N.J. (February 6, 2019) - The FDU-Florham women's basketball team lost their conference matchup against Eastern University 57-46, Wednesday night at the Ferguson Recreation Center.
FDU dips to 7-15, 2-9 within the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom, while Eastern improves to 9-13, 4-7 in the conference.
The Devils led 4-2 after three minutes of play in part to their tough defense which forced three Eagles turnovers and held them to 1-3 shooting. However, Eastern responded with a 17-2 run to close out the quarter to give them a 15-point lead.
Both teams began the second quarter on a scoring drought, but that came to an end with a free throw by senior
Kayla Croswell at the 7:35 mark of the period. A layup by junior
Imani Collins with 3:18 put a stop to the rally by Eastern and started a 4-0 scoring run for the Devils. FDU-Florham's leading scorer at the half was Croswell with five, and junior
Cayla Staggers added four points and two rebounds.
The Devils opened up the third quarter with an old school three-point play by freshman
Helen Ishmael to start an 8-2 run for the Devils to make it 35-21 with 7:03 in the third quarter. The Devils cut the deficit to 12 after two free throws by Staggers to make it 38-26 with 3:50 left in the third. However, a 10-6 run by the Eagles extended their lead to 48-32 at the end of three.
A 10-0 run to start the fourth quarter for the Devils brought it to single digits at 48-42, with 4:16 left in regulation. Croswell led the spurt with seven points including the Devils first three of the night. Sophomore
Madisyn Rosato and Collins also added points during the rally. However, the Eagles would answer with a 7-0 run to put the game away late, ended the Devils comeback attempt.

- The Devils held the Eagles to 57 points, 14 points below their season average.
- Collins tied her season high with 12 rebounds.
- Freshman Aleah Bass pulled down seven rebounds in eight minutes of action.
- Croswell scored in double figures for the 18th time this season.
