Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Edged by King's in Overtime 1-0

MADISON, N.J. (November 2, 2019) – The FDU men's soccer team fell in overtime to King's College by a score of 1-0. 

This contest concludes the 2019 regular season, as FDU drops to 6-10-2 overall and 1-5-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play. The Monarchs improve to 14-4-1 overall and 5-1 in the MAC Freedom. 

Before the contest, the FDU men's soccer program honored three graduating players; Shaun Bishop, Adam Gill, and Anthony Pares

The FDU defensive unit came out ready to play as they blocked the Monarchs first attempt to score in the ninth minute. In the 11th minute, King's worked their way past the Devils defense for another shot attempt. The shot attempt was denied by junior goalie Parker Malman, who came up with the save. In the 26th minute, Malman tallied another save, as he stopped the Monarchs try at the goal. A few minutes later, Gill recorded the shot attempt, but the effort was blocked. The Devils recorded three additional shot attempts before the end of the half, as sophomore Diego Stanziola fired off two tries, and junior Jonathan Rodriguez came away with an attempt as well. The horn sounded, as the game remained scoreless, going into the second half. 

In the 48th minute, King's attempted a shot, but their attempt was corralled in by Malman for the save. Looking to get on the scoreboard, Rodriguez forced his way past the Monarchs defensive unit for the shot attempt, but the King's goalie saved his shot. In the 73rd minute, Billy Farnan garnered a shot attempt but had his attempt stopped by the King's goalie. In the 74th minute, Malman rejected another attempt by the Monarchs.

In the 84th minute, the King's were unsuccessful in their attempt to take the lead, when Malman totaled yet another save. With time expiring, junior Ricky La Stella's attempt at the score was stymied by the Monarchs. The horn sounded, forcing overtime. In the 93rd minute, the Monarch's executed off their corner kick for the game-winning score.
