Salisbury, MD (November 16, 2019)- The FDU field hockey teams season came to an end Saturday at the hands of Salisbury University, 1-0 in Round 2 of the NCAA Tournament.
First Half
Back and forth play defined the first 30 minutes of action. The Seagulls had the shot advantage over the Devils 7-3. Junior goaltender
Megan March helped keep the game scoreless with four saves in the first half. Senior
Maggie Sohns and Sophomore
Sydney Moskal each had one shot in the frame. Both teams finished with three corner opportunities.
Second Half
The Seagulls put the early pressure on, controlling play in the Devils offensive zone for the first 5 minutes. March came up big with a diving stop early in the third quarter. Halfway thru the third, Salisbury was awarded a penalty stroke. The Seagulls were successful, taking a 1-0 lead. FDU had a late corner opportunity with two-minutes remaining, but Sohns shot sailed wide. The game would finish 1-0, with the Seagulls advancing.
Lead Devil
March was nearly unbeatable in net, recording 10 saves on 15 Seagull shots, keeping the Devils in the contest for all 60 minutes.

"I am extremely proud of this group and what they have accomplished this season," said Head Coach
Maura Johnston after the game. "We had a big win in the MAC Championship game and another one Wednesday to get us here. Salisbury is a fantastic field hockey team and we fought hard today. Countless records have been broken this season and it has been a complete team effort. Couldn't be more proud of what we have accomplished this year".
The Final Line
The Devils finish a successful 2019-2020 season with an 18-5 overall record, winning the MAC Freedom Conference and the first-round contest of the NCAA Tournament.
