Volleyball Topped by DeSales in Straight Sets

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (October 8, 2019) – The FDU volleyball team was topped by DeSales University 25-8, 25-18, 25-11 Tuesday evening.

The Devils fall to 5-9 overall and 0-4 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom, as DeSales moved to 7-13, 1-2 within the MAC Freedom.

The opening moments of the first set went back and forth, and a kill from sophomore Kacie Ros leveled the frame at three-all. The host Bulldogs reeled off nine of the next 10 points to take an eight-point advantage. A kill from senior Nathalia Padron brought FDU back to within six at 14-8, but DeSales rolled off the final 11 points to take a 1-0 lead.

DeSales captured six of the first eight markers in set two before Padron, and freshman Sophia Miskulin pounded down kills to get FDU within a pair. Padron notched two kills in the middle of the frame, but the Bulldogs opened a five-point lead at 16-11. Ros served up an ace to cap off a 3-0 Devils spurt to get within three, but FDU was unable to get any closer. The Bulldogs closed out the second stanza with five of the last six points to grab a 2-0 advantage.

The Bulldogs stormed out of the gate in the final period, putting up 13 of the first 16 tallies. Miskulin stopped a 5-0 run with a kill before Padron delivered a service ace. FDU surrendered eight of the next 10 points but countered with a 4-0 run of their own. That would be the last points FDU would tally, as the hosts claimed the match with the final four points.
