MADISON, N.J. (October 16, 2019) – The FDU volleyball team was topped by the Stevens Institute of Technology 25-10, 23-25, 25-20 and 25-8 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play Wednesday.
FDU falls to 6-12, 0-5 in the MAC Freedom as Stevens moves to 10-11, 5-0 in the conference. The Devils became the first team in the conference to take a set from Stevens this season.
Stevens scored 10 of the first 12 points in the opening frame to build a lead they would not relinquish. FDU closed to within 11 on a back-to-back kills from junior
Jessica Garreffa, but Stevens used five of the final six points to take a set one lead.
The Devils constructed a 6-2 lead early in the second frame, as junior
Rebecca Morse served up a pair of aces during the run. Senior
Nathalia Padron pounded down a set from sophomore
Kacie Ros to stretch the Devils lead to five at 12-7, but the Ducks reeled off six straight points to take a one-point lead. FDU used a small rally to take a three-point edge, with Morse notching three aces and Garreffa finishing the rally off with one. The Ducks leveled the set at 23, but Padron and junior
Liz Moise went back-to-back with kills to close out the frame in favor of FDU.
FDU forced Stevens into a timeout in the third set after rookie
Sophia Miskulin carved up the Ducks defense a three straight aces. After the teams traded 3-0 spurts, Stevens pulled back in front for good. The Devils closed within three after an unforced error, but the Ducks took the final two points to go up 2-1. Set four saw the Devils fall behind by double-digits, as a mid-frame 8-1 run broke the set open. The Ducks polished off the match with six of the final seven markers to close out the win.

- Garreffa and Padron each recorded 12 kills, with Padron adding 11 digs.
- Morse led the way with 18 digs while adding four aces.
- Sophomore Kesha Patel chipped in five digs while playing in the back row.
- Miskulin set a career-high with four aces.

The Devils head to Long Island tomorrow to take on SUNY Old Westbury at 7:30 p.m. The match will be played at Farmingdale State College.
