MADISON, N.J. (October 1, 2019) – The FDU women's tennis team picked up their third straight win with an 8-1 triumph over Lehman College Tuesday.
The Devils took a 2-1 lead after doubles action, with the senior duo of
Kasia Kasztelan and
Logan Squires dropping the decision at the No. 3 flight. Squires and Kasztelan battled back from being down 5-2 but were eventually topped 8-6. Juniors
Kira Bradley and
Nicole DelRosso teamed up at the No. 1 flight, while senior
Mia Capozzoli and freshman
Kayla Dello Iacono played at No. 2. Both teams cruised to victory, notching 8-2 wins at each flight.
The Lightning fought hard in singles play, but the Devils were victorious at every level. DelRosso struggled in her opening set but battled to win 7-5 before earning a 6-2 decision in the second. Senior
Christine Kenny was blanked 6-0 in the opening frame at the No. 2 flight but rebounded over the final two to win 6-3, 6-1.
Dello Iacono, Bradley, and Capozzoli also were double winners on the day, with Bradley registering a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at the No. 4 level. The rookie Dello Iacono dropped just one game en route to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Capozzoli nearly did the same, settling for a 6-2, 6-0 win. Rounding out the Devils lineup was sophomore
Erin Weller at No. 6 singles, and she was victorious 6-1, 6-0.
