Field Hockey Shuts Down Keystone, 4-0

MADISON, N.J. (September 26, 2018) - The FDU-Florham field hockey team continued their home dominance in a 4-0 victory against Keystone College Wednesday night to improve to 9-2.

In four home games this season, the Devils are 4-0 without allowing a single goal to be scored against them on their home field. The offense saw four different player score goals in the win. Seniors Chrissy Penney and Stephanie Noll both tallied a goal. Joining them was sophomore Allison Attardi and freshman Haleigh Flukey. Attardi and Flukey each netted their third goals of the season.

The Devils controlled the first half, scoring twice and holding the opposition to only one shot that came in the final seconds of the half. The offense out-shot the Giants 11-1 in the half and held a 13-0 penalty corner advantage. The Devils got on the board when Pak received the penalty corner pass and rifled it towards the box which was then deflected by Flukey.

FDU-Florham doubled their lead nine minutes later, when junior Maggie Sohns launched a shot from the top of the key. The shot was then deflected by Noll for the Devil's goal. The goal was Noll's second career goal. With just nine seconds remaining in the first half, Keystone was able to get off their first shot of the night. The shot had gotten by senior goalkeeper Samantha Rubin but was saved by Alyssa Mele.

The Devils wasted no time coming out of halftime to score their third goal of the evening. Two minutes into the second half, the Devils took advantage of another penalty corner when Pak recorded her second assist of the evening on another shot that was deflected. Penney was on the receiving end of this deflection for her 20th collegiate goal.

The Devils defense continued its tough play only allowing only one more shot on goal which resulted in a defense save by freshmen Sara Redington for her first colligate defensive save. FDU-Florham's fourth goal came with just over three minutes remaining in regulation when Attardi collected the rebound and fired it into the back of the cage.

Goalkeepers Rubin and sophomore Megan March shared time in the shutout victory. The Devils finished the game with a 20-2 shot advantage and a 17-3 corner advantage.

The Devils will head to Eastern University, Saturday, September 29 at 11 a. m. for their second conference game of the season.
