PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (September 23, 2018) - Sophomore
Erica Martins recorded a goal and an assist as the FDU-Florham women's soccer team shut out St. Joseph's-Long Island 3-0 Sunday afternoon.
The Devils move to 7-1-1 on the season, as St. Joseph's fell to 1-4.

Lindsey Scarmozzino had the Devils best chance early on in the game, as her eighth minute shot just sailed over the crossbar. Sophomore
Ashley Paulino made a pair of saves to keep the score deadlocked at zero, but it was the visiting Devils who broke through first. Martins flicked a pass onto the foot of classmate
Amanda Croce, who ripped a shot just under the bar to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.
The Devils doubled their lead in the 40th minute. Sophomore

Erika Pita, and Pita shot from the middle of the box went in past the keeper. FDU held a 7-5 edge in shots after the first half, while also picking the lone corner kick.
FDU extended their lead with an insurance goal in the 55th minute. Junior
Lindsey Scarmozzino sent in a perfect corner kick which Martins was able to towards the goal. The keeper thought she made the save, but the all had crossed over the line for a good call.
The Devils nearly pushed the lead to four, but a foul occurred just before Scarmozzino put th ball in. Paulino made one final stop in the 63rd minute to keep the shutout intact. The defense played a strong second half, allowing just two second half shots.
Pita and Croce combined for seven shots, while Paulino made three saves.
FDU returns home, hosting Albright at 7 p.m.
