Nieto Leads Women's Soccer Past Ramapo

MADISON, N.J. (September 2, 2018) - Sophomore Tatiana Nieto netted a goal and two assists to lead the FDU-Florham women's soccer team past Ramapo 5-2 Sunday.

The Devils moved to 2-0 with victory, while Ramapo dropped to 0-2.

The Devils got on the board first when in the ninth minute, as sophomore Erica Martins chipped in a shot from 22 yards out off a pass from Nieto. The Roadrunners tied the score at one two minutes later, taking advantage of an errant back pass. A foul by Ramapo's defense just outside of the goalkeeper box gave the Devils a free kick, which Nieto capitalized on by netting her second goal of the season. In the 21st minute, junior Erika Pita scored her fourth goal of the season, only four minutes after being subbed into the game.

FDU-Florham went into half with advantages in shots, 16-4, and corners, 9-2.

The very first shot of the second half went in for the Devils, as sophomore Amanda Croce received a pass from junior Lindsey Scarmozzino and punched it into the back of the net in the 48th minute. Ramapo's senior Jessica Raccioppi netted her second goal of the afternoon in the 74th minute after collecting her own rebound off her pervious shot.

In the 82nd minute, sophomore Nathalia Gallo rifled in a shot off, of a failed Roadrunner clear attempt. Sophomore Ashley Paulino finished with six saves in goal for FDU-Florham, while Gallo fired five shots in the victory.

The Devils will head to Union, New Jersey to face Kean University Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 7:30 p. m.
