Women's Lacrosse to Host MAC Freedom Semifinal

MADISON, N.J. (May 1, 2018) - The FDU women's lacrosse team claimed the No. 1 seed in this week's Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship.

GAME INFO
The Devils will host No. 4 seed Eastern at 4 p.m. inside the friendly confines of Robert T. Shields Field.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS
No. 2 Misericordia will host No. 3 King's at 4 p.m. in Dallas, Pa. The two winners will meet on Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed.

LAST TIME OUT
FDU clinched the No. 1 seed in the tournament with a 16-8 win over Misericordia Saturday afternoon on Senior Day. Junior Caroline Pape netted three goals and four assists, while classmate Megan Nemeth added 13 saves.

YOU LOOK FAMILIAR
The Devils and Eagles are no strangers to each other, as it will be the second matchup in seven days. Last time, FDU scored the first 15 tallies, cruising to a 20-5 triumph.

AWARD SEASON
FDU swept the individual MAC Freedom Awards while placing seven on All-Conference teams. Sisters Noelle and Nina claimed Offensive Player of the Year and Rookie respectively, while Nemeth was awarded Defensive Player of the Year. All three were named to the First Team and were joined by junior Kathleen Petrucelli. Juniors Caroline Pape, Leah Eble and Caitlyn Damon were chosen to the Second Team.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST
Head Coach Adrienne Carr claimed MAC Freedom Coach of the Year. For Carr, it was the fifth time in her coaching career she has been named Coach of the Year and the third straight season.

SCOUTING EASTERN
The Eagles were led by 47 goals from Liz Brennan, while Julie Haggan chipped in 35 goals and 18 assists. In goal, Marcie Spencer made 133 stops while posting a 6-8 record.

DEVILS REPORT
Petrucelli led the Devils with 27 assists and 67 points, while Noelle Shirey was tops with 46 goals and 51 caused turnovers. Pape has reeled in a team-best 72 draw controls while adding 25 goals and 18 assists.

MEG SAYS NO
Nemeth has been a stalwart in goal this season, posting a 13-4 record and 122 saves. The junior notched a career-high 20 stops against Kean this season while also notching 16 against Amherst.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING
"Our team is very excited to earn the No. 1 seed," Carr said. "They are focused and ready to go. They know that everyone enters the playoffs with a clean slate, and it's a new season."
