DALLAS, Pa. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's lacrosse team fell to Misericordia University, 17-5, in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom matchup on Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
The Devils conclude their regular season at 5-9 and 3-4 in the conference as the Cougars improve to 13-1 overall and 6-1 in the MAC Freedom.
FDU struggled out of the gate, surrendering the first six goals of the game.
Sophomore
Ty Tracey tried to get things going when he found the back of the net off a feed from classmate
John Guido with 1:49 remaining in the half as the Devils left the break trailing by five.
The Cougars poured on the offense early in the third quarter, scoring five unanswered goals to quiet any chance of an FDU comeback.
Still, the Devils worked and Guido picked up a ground ball and notched a goal of his own while sophomore
Pat Stewart capitalized on a man-up opportunity with 18 seconds remaining in the quarter, off a feed from sophomore
John Belanger.
FDU scored twice more in the fourth quarter thanks to a man-up goal from Belanger, assisted by senior
David Stewart and one from classmate
Will Kenny on an unassisted tally.
It wasn't enough to catch the Cougars though, as they sealed the deal with five more points in the final quarter.
In goal, sophomore
Adam Reifer made 16 saves in the defeat as Guido and sophomore
Mike Gartner combined for seven ground balls. Belanger led the attack with eight shots while
Pat Stewart took six.
