Women's Lacrosse Routs Delaware Valley, 17-2

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (April 20, 2018) - The FDU women's lacrosse team rode an 11 goal first half en route to a 17-2 triumph over Delaware Valley Friday.

The Devils improve to 11-4 overall, and 5-0 within the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom. The Aggies drop to 4-8, and 0-5 in conference.

FDU tallied three goals within the first 4:02 of the game, including within a span of 14 seconds. The lead swelled to 6-0 before the game was 13 minutes old, as junior Caitlyn Damon completed a hat trick. After the sixth Devils goal, Del Val took a timeout to regroup.

After the Devils scored once more after the timeout, the host Aggies put one on the board. FDU tallied the final three goals of the half, as senior Samantha Holleritter, junior Caroline Pape and freshman Emily Koepfler scored during the half.

FDU held a 23-5 edge in shots during the first 30 minutes, while also going a perfect 9-for-9 in clears.

57 seconds into the second half, Holleritter netted her second of the evening before freshman Olivia Chaoush netted her first three minutes later. With 19 minutes to go, the Aggies had a chance to break through, but junior Megan Nemeth made the free position save.

FDU closed out the scoring with three goals within a five minute span midway through the half, with graduate student Noelle Shirey netting the final two goals. Delaware Valley would end the game with a marker with just 55 seconds remaining off a free position shot. FDU corralled the ensuing draw control and ran off the rest of the clock.

Damon finished with four goals and an assist while junior Kathleen Petrucelli, Holleritter, Pape and Shirey all had two goals. Junior Leah Eble tied Shirey with two caused turnovers on the defensive end.

FDU returns home Wednesday, for a 4 p.m. contest against Eastern.
